Bate's Barn by Pat Koscienski

Bate's Barn
12" x 16"
Oil
SOLD

This 12x16 inch oil painting was done plein air at a farm off Carlisle Pike Rd., in Mechanicsburg, PA. The small window-like opening to the far left of the basement wall was to a room where the owner & his family would go during Indian raids. A musket could be safely aimed from this small opening, thus giving the owner protection during an attack. Alot of history rooted in this barn. This painting is done on shellacked plywood with some of the staining allowed to remain unpainted, thus giving alot of unity to the painting. Dancing in the Rain by Pat Koscienski

This 12" x 6" painting was done plein aire (painting on site) at Italian Lake in Harrisburg, PA. It was a statue commissioned by Milton Hershey, which in that day became very controversial because of the nude figures. It ended up at Italian Lake, fortunately for many who enjoy it's beauty. There was a drizzling rain that morning, but I was under my easel umbrella under a tree. The fine rain did not bother me until the wind started to blow it in under the umbrella. Even this did not concern me, until I realized I was using the new interactive acrylic paint which becomes resoluable when wet. I soon packed up and left, but not before I realized some of the raindrops caused markings on my painting. And, to my delight gave it a more believable rainy, wet, splashing water look which I'm sure could not have been achieved without the weather conditions. Morning Run by Pat Koscienski

This original painting 24" x 36" is done using acrylic, inks, and gel medium. I wanted to combine a representational depiction with an abstracted style. The manes have drizzled string gel and the white water has thickly applied gel medium....giving an accentuated texture to these areas. To purchase, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com
