"Dan's Winter Barn" by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

"Dan's Winter Barn"
12" x 16"
Oil on board
SOLD
"Dan's Winter Barn" was painted from a photograph taken at a Dover farm where I painted plein aire many times in more clement weather. I loved the way the sunlight shined on the lane between the buildings. The ruts in the snow were deep and the colors were great. This painting was bought by a fellow artist and I am glad to know it has a good home. It was one of my favorites.

  3. I can see why it sold, Pat. This is a gorgeous painting, well done, nice composition. Sigh...I love winter scenes so much! I am awed by your painting prowess!

  4. Tatiana, I really enjoy painting snow, however, I was told they don't sell because people don't want them hanging during the summer? But, I have sold pretty many, at least for me, and may just try a few more. I have a feeling we are going to have a lot of snow this winter...another noreaster on the way?

  13. Thanks, Denny. I have to dust off Carlson's book and look through it again. According to Anthea Callen in Techniques of the Impressionists, Monet used Prussian blue in Bathing at La Grenouillere, also. That's when I got hooked again. LOL

  14. Beautiful painting, Pat! Love the light and shadow and all the many colors used to render the snow. Great brushwork too.
