Mixed Media
6" x 6"
"All I Want For Christmas is...." was done for James Parker's blog Windows to the Words Art Challenge. The theme was to paint something we wanted for Christmas eg a diamond ring or new lap top computer, etc. I always like this doggie photo James had posted in a previous challenge. After giving some thought to what I really want for Christmas....love, everyone wants love (even dogs)....kisses, everyone wants kisses (even dogs)... Living so close to Hershey, Pa ...Hershey kisses came to mind quickly. I never realized, until I went to paint one, though, that the white paper tag reading "kisses" leans to the left to read kisses. Of course, I needed this to lean into the painting, so that is why it reads as a mirror image. Then, couldn't get the metallic glimmer in the red foil quite glimmery enough, so took the foil and paper off the kiss and collaged it to the painting and ate the chocolate. That's how easy an acrylic painting can turn into a mixed media painting. If interested in purchasing, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com

Oh my gosh, Pat! I laughed right out loud at your handling of the foil lights! LOLOL I was thinking that you handled it quite well then I read you collaged the actual paper onto the painting! LOLOL I love the dog and his beautiful and wistful expression too! Now you have my mind pondering on the paper in the Hershey's kisses! Sigh...you know that will drive me mad until I see for myself! Anyway, I love this painting. You really have such a wonderful range of abilities!
I'm glad you like it, Autumn. I tried to twist the paper to make it read right & point in the right direction, however, it wouldn't stay. I'm a chocoholic, so I probably wanted that candy more than the dog. LOL
Pat, you never know what challenge you'll face as an artist. This dog is wimpering because dog's can't eat chocolate - so sad for them, but all the more for us!
Not being a dog owner, I never realized that, Lyn. I thought more of him wanting a "kiss", but now that "kiss" has even more meaning.
This is so adorable...and mixed media, no less...:) That's what it's all about when you are an artist...creativity and innovation. Love this!
I had fun at the gallery, Claire, when people were in awe that I used the foil. They said they couldn't figure out how I painted it so realistically.
Happy Holidays, Pat. Your pup is posted on WTTW Art, looking like he needs a pork chop...I wouldn't give him any chocolate, either. Your ingenious use of the tin foil is absolutelyu super!!!
Happy Holidays to you too, James. Good luck with your new endeavors.
This is darling Pat, and I got a chuckle out of the story...I too would have eaten the kiss!
Thanks, Dana, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Couldn't have that doggie eating it.
