12" x 9"
Acrylic on Canvas
This painting was done from a photo posted by Gary Keimig on his Wilderness Art Challenge blogspot for the month of December. With the holidays, I never finished it in time to post it on his blogspot. And, I'm still not sure if I am finished with this painting. To see more renditions of this bear and her cub, visit Gary's site at http://www.wildernessartchallenge.blogspot.com/ If you have any questions or wish to purchase, e-mail Pat. Great work Pat.I like the way you painted the fur.Looks perfect.
Thanks, Yasha. I really struggled with the bright light reflecting from her fur; I finally gave up and just tried to make it fur-like. Unfortunately, I lost the "zing" of the light.
WOW, Pat. This is terrific - I agree with Yasha, because my immediate impression was how masterfully you had painted the fur in both color and texture and movement. Great work (as always!)
Absolutely gorgeous black bears, Pat! Truly beautiful!
Thank you, Claire.
Thank you, Autumn.
Wonderful Pat! I love the depth you created with the rocks leading to the second bear. I am always on the look out in the Smokey Mountains, but have not had a photo opportunity yet.
Thanks, Carol. I can't believe you go roaming the Smokey Mountains searching for black bears to photo shoot. How exciting. Unfortunately, I have to depend on Gary Keimig for these great photos. But, I am hoping to get some of my own wildlife photos from my new studio...deer, turkey, and birds. Photographing any kind of wildlife thrills me.
