Very nice work Pat... the colors and brush strokes look like they have been placed with authority... resulting in such a wonderful painterly painting.
Thanks, Denny. I really like Henri's work and the way he applies his paint. It was difficult trying to paint from a photo without ever seeing his painting, though. Hope someday to see some of these in real life.
Another beautiful piece, Pat. I love the dramatic sky, the dark buildings...such an awesome depiction of an earlier time in history. My goodness...you have so many pieces that I just want. One of these days...
Thanks, Autumn, this was fun painting, but hard since the photo was hard to see.
Pat, I love both of your paintings in this months challenge and all of your work. Henri's paintings have so much emotion in them and you did a great job producing the same emotion in your paintings.
Thank you, Carol. I wish I could carry that emotion through out all my paintings. What an artist Henri was.
Atmosphere -- a quality so important and so little discussed (or am I wrong?); it is what you've caught here in your Robert Henri submission to Following the Masters. I also like 'Autumn Path'. My problem is being too often too exacting. You leave something to the imagination of the viewer; hence potency of atmosphere.
Oh, you're right, Alan, I agree. And, I think we learn so much from copying the works of masters. Now I was forced to do that for Henri's painting because I couldn't see anything else in that photo to put down. Maybe I should remove my contacts when I paint plein air. LOL.
Pat - even though you are using Henri as your muse, this definitely has 'Pat Koscienski' painted all over it! Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks, Claire, that means a lot coming from you.
