San Jose, California
8 x 10
Acrylic on canvas
This painting was done for Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout Challenge. This month we were to paint the San Francisco Bay area with Santa Rosa to the north, Atioch to the east, and San Jose to the south. Using the Google Map Street View, I found this beautiful scene in the San Jose area and loved the colors. There were several others of equal beauty, so hopefully I will have time to revisit and paint more of these rural scenes. I used a palette knife thinking I would loosen up when painting these photographs onto a small canvas, however, it still is a bit fussier than I like. But, sometimes, I just end the "conversation" between the painting and me, and just let it rest. Simply love it, Pat! What a colors!
Wow! Great job on an area a little south of my location Pat!
Pat, my memories of my first six years of life in California almost always deal with color. I have such strong images of crystal blue skies, green ocean and the warm ochres and siennas of the desert. Just looking at this took me back to a wonderful place. Your painting is phenomenal.
Thanks, Dana, I love texture and really enjoy working the paint.
Thanks, Tatiana. I think that is what attracted me to this area.
Sheila, it's always great to put a face to some of the bloggers. Now I'll remember your state also.
Now, Claire, I learned something new about you. Never knew you lived in California. I'm glad to know that I came a little close to replicating the colors that I saw on Google Map Street View. Thank you.
Gosh, Pat! Your talents are unlimited! Palette knives too? I love this painting, the texture especially caught me right from the beginning. The colors are indeed fabulous. Talk about a painted desert! You've nailed this beautiful place!
Thank you, Autumn for your complimentary comments. I do enjoy trying different mediumns and different techniques. I'm not sure they all work, but I won't know unless I take the risk. LOL
