"Soon Forgotten" is an 8" x 10" painting done plein air on a farm that had many of these small buildings recently demolished...wood being used as found wood? This particular building was gone the next week we painted there and I'm sure will be "Soon Forgotten". If you have any questions or wish to purchase, contact PAT. Fields of Gold - original acrylic plein air landscape painting of hills of sunflowers by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski
This painting was done plein air near Messiah College in Pennsylvania. It had rained hard for several days before, and no matter how long we waited for the sun to draw the heads upward, it was not going to happen. I went back several weeks later to punch in the dark tree & underbrush on the right; the sunflowers' heads still were not at their grandest. However, I still liked the contrast of the dark tree with the yellow, rolling hills. And, who couldn't love that misty blue mountain in the background.
This painting is one of four of my paintings on exhibit with the SVPAP (Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters) group at Gallery 2318 in Camp Hill, PA. Exhibit will be open every weekend in October....Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm; Sunday, noon - 4 pm.
If in the area, please stop in. There are 21 artists displaying their plein air paintings..

New Cumberland Spillway - acrylic plein air landscape painting of the Yellow Breeches by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski
This painting was started on 6-19-13 when some of the members of the SVPAP (Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters) met at this park. I usually never paint longer than 2-3 hrs because of the light change. However, I was not satisfied with the painting and went back by myself July 26, over a month later, and did another 2-3 hrs worth of work. The painting doesn't have the 2 hr fast draw look, but I'm liking the more finished look a little better. I walk this park several times a week, weather permitting. It is 3/4 miles around, with the Yellow Breeches surrounding over half of the walk. It is beautiful and during my 3 mile walk, I spend a lot of time studying this section of the stream. New Cumberland, Pa., is where this stream empties into the Susquehanna River. It is a fisherman's dream, and never a day goes by when there isn't at least 1 fisherman throwing out his line, but more often there are several. The spillway is their favorite spot. Lotus and Loosestrife - Impressionistic Acrylic Plein Aire Palette Knife Landscape by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski
8" x 10"
Acrylic
I was painting at Wildwood Wetlands on Wednesday with our group, the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters, to try to get the yellow lotus and purple loosestrife before they make their exit for the year. I tried another palette knife piece, a little larger this time. I'd like to go even larger, but don't know about how to handle the amount of paint I would have to put out. A lot of interested people stop to talk, and acrylics can dry on you fast, especially when there is a breeze. I've tried using the wet palette, but that can liquify my paint and I want the full body consistency for the knife work. Sycamores & Wild Irises - Acrylic Plein Air Landscape Wildwood Wetlands by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski
This painting was done plein air at Wildwood Sanctuary off Industrial Road, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The wild irises were in bloom; the water lilies were just starting to think about opening. I couldn't help zeroing in on the bark on the sycamores and the wild yellow irises that sat around the tree trunks at the water's edge. Morning's Glow - Impressionistic Animal Landscape Oil Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski
This painting will be on exhibit the month of July in the Charley Krone Gallery located on the 2nd floor of the New Cumberland Library. This is one of 26 paintings for my "Animals, Birds, and Butterflies" Exhibit. I thought it would be interesting to gather and exhibit my animal paintings, whether they are the main subject of the painting, or just included in the painting. This is a landscape painting inspired by painting plein air on a sheep farm in York, Pennsylvania. The painting needed some punch, so gave it a "morning glow". If in the area, stop in and visit the exhibit. Again, it is located on the 2nd floor of the New Cumberland Library, 1 Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland, PA. Orris House Inn - Original Acrylic Small Town USA Plein Aire Painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski
This was painted plein air at the Orris House Inn Bed & Breakfast on 318 W. Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. The owners, Barb and Kevin Jackson graciously invited our group to paint at their estate. The building is so complex I decided to paint a corner of their porch. The porch, rocking chair, & flag made a wonderful composition and reminded me of a scene from any small town, USA. Poppy Peonies - Original Acrylic Impressionistic Floral Plein Aire Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski
Poppy Peonies was painted at Katie's Stoney Creek Irises in Dauphin, Pennsylvania. Several plein air artists went to visit and paint in Katie's beautiful gardens. Irises, flowers of all kinds, gardens, sheds, roosters, chickens, turkeys....all make for ideal subject matter. Across the road is Stoney Creek which is a well know PA trout fishing area. Can't wait to get back there this year. If interested in purchasing, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com If interested in viewing more of my work, visit my website:
