Waldo - miniature acrylic frog painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

"Waldo"
6" x 6"
Acrylic

This painting was done for the Mechanicsburg Art Center's Miniature Exhibit.  MAC is located at 18 Artcraft Drive in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The exhibit will be hanging until Nov. 21, 2012, so if you are in the area please stop in to see it.  The exhibit has 90 miniatures from local artists...4  are mine.  By the way, he got this name because when my husband and I would sit up by the pond, we would ask, "Where's Waldo?"  He was either sitting on a lily pad or hiding in one of the grasses we have in the pond.  Sometimes it would take us quite a while to find him; he was quite good with the camouflage.  If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT.   If you would like to see more of my paintings from  miniatures, landscapes, figurative, portraits, wildlife, abstract.....please visit my website at:

"Top of the Pecking Order"
2.5" x 3.5"

This aceo card of a rooster was done for Jennifer Neslund who is the administrative assistant and exhibit coordinator for Carlisle Arts Learning Center (CALC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She will be exhibiting Fred and Fiona, and 2 other paintings of roosters and hens from the middle of March to the middle of April at CALC. Other artists have been painting aceo's and atc's for her to display as a "hen house" or other display she may creatively come up with. I am presently working on a larger version of this fellow, since he looks to be quite a strutter. A painting of a cougar on the edge or brink of an unstable structure. Does it collapse? Will he jump? Will it all remain stable? Definitely a need to make some decisions. Do we sometimes find ourselves in this position? If you have any questions, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com

Morning's Glow - Impressionistic Animal Landscape Oil Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Morning's Glow

11" x 14"

Oil on linen canvas

SOLD

This painting will be on exhibit the month of July in the Charley Krone Gallery located on the 2nd floor of the New Cumberland Library. This is one of 26 paintings for my "Animals, Birds, and Butterflies" Exhibit. I thought it would be interesting to gather and exhibit my animal paintings, whether they are the main subject of the painting, or just included in the painting. This is a landscape painting inspired by painting plein air on a sheep farm in York, Pennsylvania. The painting needed some punch, so gave it a "morning glow". If in the area, stop in and visit the exhibit. Again, it is located on the 2nd floor of the New Cumberland Library, 1 Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland, PA. Mule Deer Buck - Acrylic Wildlife Animal Painting on Board by Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Mule Deer Buck
12" x 16"
Acrylic on Board
This painting was done from a photograph posted on Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge Blogspot. I did "flip" Gary's photograph so the deer is walking from left to right in my painting.
The mule deer are named for their unusually large ears, but they resemble mules in no other way. It was interesting to do research and read about the differences between a mule deer and a whitetail deer. The "muleys" are less adaptable and remain more of a wilderness species. Mule deer seldom raise their shorter, ropelike tails, which are dull white with black tips. And, the main beams of their antlers each branch into two beams, each then branching again. There are a lot more differences, but too many to name them all in this blogspot. However, enjoy the painting and be sure to visit Gary's blogspot for more paintings of the mule deer.

Matching Set - Original Acrylic Impressionistic Painting of a Child and Dog by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Matching Set
6x6
Acrylic on Canvas

Matching Set was painted for James Parker's blogspot Windows to the Words Challenge. The challenge for February was Children and Pets - Matching Sets. Several photographs were provided if we wanted to choose one or more to paint. This curly-headed little girl with her curly-headed dog caught my heart. What a winning smile she has. The dog was very difficult to paint...so black, I had to really struggle to find the eyes and anatomical definitions like the ears, nose, etc. Unfortunately, even though I finally completed the painting by the due date, I was unable to get it off to James to have it posted on his blogspot. Leo - Acrylic Impressionistic Painting of a Lion on Canvas by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

"Leo"
11" x 14"
Acrylic
"Leo" was painted in acrylic on a textured gallery wrapped canvas. I started this out with the idea that I wanted to abstract him using a lot of texture. However, what I want and what I get, is not always the same. I always say, it is a conversation between me and the painting...the process or conversation continues until we are both in agreement. So, it is an impressionistic painting of a lion on a very textured gallery wrapped canvas. "Turkey" by Pat Koscienski

"Turkey"
Oil on board
14" x 18"
"Turkey" was painted using a different technique than I was used to. Instead of mixing my linseed oil in my paint, I placed the linseed oil on the part of the turkey I was working on. When I applied my paint, it then "spread" since the paint was thick and the oil caused it to move. Thus giving a feathery look without painting each hair. It gives a very nice look, however, the drying time between applications of the linseed oil became annoying to me, since I tend to paint more quickly. If interested in purchasing, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com. I do want to wish everyone a Happy & Safe Thanksgiving!

Morning Run by Pat Koscienski

This original painting 24" x 36" is done using acrylic, inks, and gel medium. I wanted to combine a representational depiction with an abstracted style. The manes have drizzled string gel and the white water has thickly applied gel medium....giving an accentuated texture to these areas. To purchase, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com
