It was inspired by the Parable of Jesus from Matthew 6:24-34. Especially the part "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them." "Wetland's Sentinel" was painted plein air at Wildwood Wetlands Park off Industrial Road in Harrisburg, PA The yellow lotus were in bloom; a possible rain threatened, but never arrived, and an egret kept us in awe with his beauty & grace. Needless to say, the painting of the egret was completed in the studio (He refused to hold that pose).
