Woodland Falls - original acrylic landscape painting by Pennsylvania Contemporary Painter Pat Koscienski

"Woodland Falls"
14" x 11"
Acrylic

This painting is done from the same photo I used in "Forest's Secret Beauty".  This, however, was done with brushes, much larger than I usually use, whereas "Forest's Secret Beauty" was done with a palette knife.  As you can see, I try to make a painting "mine" no matter how often I paint it.  I don't worry about painting each stone or spray of water where the photo shows it.  Composition, color, and texture is what I strive for.  I feel there is more energy in this painting than "Forest's Secret Beauty", maybe because of the looseness.  However, "Forest's Secret Beauty" shows more texture.  Which look do you prefer?

Forest's Secret Beauty - acrylic palette knife landscape painting of waterfall by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski

"Forest's Secret Beauty"
10" x 8"
Acrylic on canvas

This acrylic painting was done using a palette knife.  I wanted to try to paint a little looser, thinking the palette knife would help me keep it more painterly.  However, I now know I can get tight with detail using a brush and even a palette knife.  Application of paint using the palette knife, does, however, help me pick up the paint more.  I regret not using a thickening medium, since my acrylic paint can tend to get too liquid since I lay it out on moist paper towels.  If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT.  If you would like to see more of my works, representational or abstract, please visit my website at:

Stream's Winter Snow

Another snow painting from a photograph from my morgue accrued over the years.  Pennsylvania has many small streams, from the Yellow Breeches, the Conodoguinet, Paxton Creek, Condorus, a lot of them in the surrounding area where I live; all leading to and draining into the Susquehanna River.   A fisherman's dream and an artist's delight.  All of my paintings are for sale.  If interested in the price or purchasing, please contact PAT.  If interested in seeing more of my paintings, please visit my website at:

Blue Spruce and Winter Snow
14" x 11"

This is one of the 4 winter scenes that I was inspired to paint because of the heavy snows that we got.  Looking through my very large morgue I was able to come up with many years of heavy snow references.  And, believe me, there were many.  This painting was done mainly with a palette knife.   If you have any questions or wish to purchase, contact PAT.  If you would like to see more of my paintings, please visit my website at:

Waldo - miniature acrylic frog painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

"Waldo"
6" x 6"
Acrylic

This painting was done for the Mechanicsburg Art Center's Miniature Exhibit.  MAC is located at 18 Artcraft Drive in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The exhibit will be hanging until Nov. 21, 2012, so if you are in the area please stop in to see it.  The exhibit has 90 miniatures from local artists...4  are mine.  By the way, he got this name because when my husband and I would sit up by the pond, we would ask, "Where's Waldo?"  He was either sitting on a lily pad or hiding in one of the grasses we have in the pond.  Sometimes it would take us quite a while to find him; he was quite good with the camouflage.  If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT.   If you would like to see more of my paintings from  miniatures, landscapes, figurative, portraits, wildlife, abstract.....please visit my website at:

Backyard Mushrooms - original impressionistic ACEO painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

Backyard Mushrooms
2.5" x 3.5"
ACEO
Acrylic

I found these mushrooms growing in the backyard and decided to paint them. I have been trying to post this for several weeks. However, everytime I tried to insert my "horizontal"  photo it was posted in the vertical position. I finally edited the photo, rotated it to the vertical position and when I posted it, it posted in the horizontal position where it needed to be. If anyone else has had this problem and knows the solution, please let me know.  My method obviously worked, but is very time consuming. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, please contact PAT. If you wish to see more of my paintings, please visit my website at:
