"Cross of Hope" by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

"Cross of Hope"
10" x 10"
Acrylic
"Cross of Hope" was done using a lot of acrylic medium to sculpt as well as paint this composition...color and texture being the main goal. I felt that the cross that developed from this sculpting, hopefully, reflected some symbolism for us to recognize as a need within each of us. This painting will be exhibited at the Art & Soul Gallery, 900 Market Street, 2nd floor, Suite 13. This is at the West Shore Farmer's Market in Lemoyne, PA. The new owner of Art & Soul, Lyn O'Neal, will have a GRAND RE-OPENING on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2009 from 4:30 TO 7 PM Stop by for some free light refreshments, meet the artists, and enjoy original art works by more than 20 local artists. If interested in purchasing, contact Lyn at 717-761-1270

Pretty interesting work, Pat! I hope we can make it in on Friday to Art and Soul and meet with everybody... It is just too bad, we have two receptions in two different galleries at the same day! I guess we all will have to run from one to another! :-) See you there!

I love the textural, tactile, almost sculptural qualities of this piece.
It makes me want to touch it!

I have to say, Pat, that this is one of the few abstract paintings I've ever totally LOVED. This is gorgeous and does indeed strike a chord deep within. I love the impasto works you've done of late with the palette knives. Simply beautiful!

Thanks, Tatiana, I know you are a realist. I must admit, I have learned to enjoy both. Each is so different, that it allows me a little respite when I become frustrated with one. LOL

Thanks, Claire, I knew those 2 years I spent with Karl Foster in sculpting class would come in handy. LOL

Thank you for your wonderful comments, Autumn. That palette knife is great when it works. And, it does well with the abstracted pieces. It facilitates some of the emotions that go into the painting.

Thanks, Rosemary, I'm glad you like it. We are very happy that Art & Soul is reopening. Artists and gallery owners are having it tough this year.

Pat, I'm so glad you're showcasing this work. Those sculpting classes did come in handy! This piece gets alot of attention at the gallery and I, personally, love the cross significance.
