Matching SetMatching Set was painted for James Parker's blogspot Windows to the Words Challenge. The challenge for February was Children and Pets - Matching Sets. Several photographs were provided if we wanted to choose one or more to paint. This curly-headed little girl with her curly-headed dog caught my heart. What a winning smile she has. The dog was very difficult to paint...so black, I had to really struggle to find the eyes and anatomical definitions like the ears, nose, etc. Unfortunately, even though I finally completed the painting by the due date, I was unable to get it off to James to have it posted on his blogspot. Thank you, Autumn, she sure does, doesn't she. Someone at the gallerie this evening asked me if that was the First Dog. I didn't realize this was the same breed dog the Obama's have. So instead of looking at her smile, they were looking at the dog.LOL
Pat, I'm late getting here but just love this painting! You did a super job for a difficult assignment! You are right there taking on the challenge! Bravo! The dog's fur and the little girl's hair are wonderful. Love the smiles and how the red of the dog's mouth draws attention to her eyes!
