Grand Opening - Acrylic Floral Representational Impressionistic Tulip Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Grand Opening
10" x 8"
Mixed Media on Canvas

Grand Opening was painted for Lela Stankovic's Paint and Draw Together Challenge. A Tulip Portrait was the subject for May. The tulip itself was painted with acrylics and I used the new Atelier Interactive, but for the background I used inks. I wanted to keep the background dark, but still have some color and design. If you wish to see more tulip paintings, visit Lela's site at http://www.paintanddrawtogether.blogspot.com/ If you have any questions, or wish to see more of my works, both representational and abstract, visit my website at:

I just returned from galavanting around Wyoming and Colorado and have just posted your bison on the Wilderness Challenge blog.

Pat, this is my favorite of the several of this tulip's submission for this challenge. I think you've handled that background gorgeously and I love the delicate colors in the white petals of the tulips. Beautiful!

Pat, I love how the background has a watercolor look and the tulip is acrylic. So pretty— I wanted to get to this challenge, but time is running out on a bunch of challenges. So much to paint, so little time. :)

Gary, galavanting around Wyoming and Colorado with camera in hand, I presume. It sounds great. Thank you for sharing your photos with us and thank you for posting our paintings. Can't wait to see the next challenge.

Thanks, Autumn & Carol. The color of that green on the right petal is more grayed than what is showing in the photo. I painted it on a black canvas, and I liked the dark for the background, but when I tried to use acrylic paint to add some color, it didn't have that transparent look like the ink. I know what you mean about trying to keep up with all the challenges. And, DSFDF and Following the Masters are hopefully coming back. I just love them, but maybe I will have to rotate. I wonder how the artists do the 100 paintings in a 100 days, and I have trouble doing 1/week. LOL
