Silent Return - Acrylic Representational Wildlife Painting of a Bull Bison Buffalo by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Silent Return

9" x 12"

Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD

Silent Return was painted for Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge. He photographed this bull bison (buffalo) at a buffalo range outside of Thermopolis, Wyoming. Gary's photograph was so good it showed a brand on this bull's hind quarter. What a thrill to get to paint this. Bravo Pat! The blue sky is a perfect backdrop for that rich brown hide. I can almost feel the earth move as he walks by.

Well done, Pat. Such an interesting shape this buffalo has, doesn't he?

Very nice, Pat. The colors are perfect, and you've managed to capture the dynamic quality of the buffalo.

Thanks, James. Now if I can capture the delicacy of a butterfly. LOL

Thanks, Sheila, I guess the photo helped with the choice of complementary orange/blue hues. Lucked out! He sure is a massive creature, isn't he?

I agree, Autumn. If I were a native American Indian with a bow and arrow on a horse, I'm not sure I would want to tackle this one. I did some reading up on him, and he can be dangerous to man in these parks and will attack if threatened. And...can do up to 35 miles/hr. I know I can't run that fast. LOLOL
