This Sunday, April 1, marks the formal opening of the Preserved Lands Exhibit at York Art Association. YAA has partnered with the Farm and Natural Lands Trust of York County, and will be featuring landscape paintings of York County's Preserved Lands by 30 local artists. I was invited to paint Art Glatfelter's Field Stone Meadows Horse Farm. After touring and photographing this beautiful property on a gator driven by Sherri Becker in July, 2011, I chose to paint this scene using a photo as reference. The painting depicts both the roughness of the land and the beauty and softness of its crop.
The reception is from 2:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, April 1, at YAA, 220 S Marshall St, York, PA. Please stop by if you are in the area. The exhibit will be on display until April 22.
If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. 50% of the sale will go to the artist, 25% to YAA, and 25% to the Natural Lands Trust; this applies until April 22.

It is gorgeous, Pat! Wouldn't it be wonderful to have that much land? Love your chosen view with the path/tracks and the vibrant and lush trees on the right, view of the fields ahead and to the left.
Thanks, Sherry. This painting depicts only a small portion of this large farm. I am so glad it will be preserved for future generations.
Beautiful painting, Pat. I love the roughness of this road and love the color you painted it...wish I could see the show!! I'm sure it will be a success!!
Thanks, Hilda. It took a lot for me not to blend on that path. I kept remembering Whisson's "A stroke laid is a stroke staid"; at least I think it was him. lol
This is a phenomenal painting, Pat. I really love everything about it!
Beautiful and sunny road! Love the light in this painting!
This is such a peaceful scene! I can just imagine taking a long leisurely walk down that old road. Beautiful painting, Pat!
Claire, Jane, & Sunny, thank you so much for your comments. I hope to get back to this farm and revisit this path. Hopefully the horses will be out in the pastures for more subject matter.
Wonderful depth in this painting, Pat! Love the shady path that leads to the sunny field. Reminds me of beautiful days on the farm. Hope you are doing well!
Thanks, Carol. So glad this brought back good memories for you. I am doing well; thank you for your warm concern.
Oh Pat! I love this painting! The warm glow in the foreground leading us down that rugged road to the sun-lit field! Lots of depth - glad it's an impressive size! Wish I could see the show!
