"Spring's Surprise" by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

"Spring's Surprise"
36" x 24"
Oil on canvas
This painting was done from a photo of spring tulips growing outside our window. However, there was a little surpise in store for them when a beautiful snowfall whitened the ground, leaving as fast as it came. What a surprise! How wonderful for you to capture a moment in time to revisit forever! The red really pops against the snow.

Thanks, Sheila, you are right, we don't get to see that too often. To have it on canvas makes it a good reminder.

This is great, Pat. What irony...beautiful red tulips that make one think of warm Spring breezes, but instead they are blanketed with cold SNOW! The tulips WILL triumph!!!!

You are right about the tulips, trumphing, Claire. Thank goodness. Is this what they call onion snow?

So much prettiness and great contrasts, Pat! I am always amazed when a sudden freeze or snowfall doesn't kill the new life. I love this one!

Autumn, I really like the way you always find an analogy in a painting. Much like some of the freezes and difficulties in life not doing us in. A struggle sometimes, but we persevere.

Beautiful! Love the way you handled the reds and the snow! This must be breathtaking to see full size! Wow!

Thanks, Rosemary. It brightens up a room, well. And, I love it so, because I know they were my tulips.
