Lavender Blue - Acrylic palette knife floral abstract painting by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski

"Lavender Blue"
9" x 12"
Acrylic on canvas
This painting was done ala prima using texturized acrylic paint and a palette knife. It started off as a nonobjective abstract for this month's DPP challenge. However, I started to see some flowers on a mountain side and decided to stay with that. I did not stop to photograph different stages for fear of breaking that right brain period that I was in. Thanks, Hilda. I like abstract because it is great to work freely with all that color and texture. However, I know my heart lies with representationalism and I always return to it.

I'm not generally a fan of abstract pieces but because I can see the flowers and I adore the palette, this one has me won over! A wonderful piece, Pat!

Thanks, Sherry. This painting did turn out to be more objective than when I started out. I guess that can be part of the fun of doing abstracts. And the neat part is that it is truly an original...I wouldn't be able to replicate it if I tried. lolol

Pat this is a wonderful piece - I wish it were larger! Love the little breaths of warm color peeking through but mostly I'm blown away by the knife swirls! Applause! Applause!
