Winter's Snowy Lane - acrylic impressionistic palette knife landscape painting by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski

SOLD
Winter's Snowy Lane
11" x 14"
Acrylic on canvas

I overlooked posting this painting from my winter series on my blogspot.  I really wanted it included because there are clients and buyers who appreciate winter painting all year long and not just in the winter.  That it sold, is proof of that.  It is one of the 4 winter scenes that I was inspired to paint because of the heavy snows that we got this past winter.  This is the lane that goes up to our neighbors' house and property. However, if you make a right hand turn after approximately the 4th tree, you would end up in our parking pad.   This painting was done mainly with a palette knife.  If you would like to see more of my paintings, both representational and abstract, please visit my website at:

Forest's Secret Beauty - acrylic palette knife landscape painting of waterfall by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski

"Forest's Secret Beauty"
10" x 8"
Acrylic on canvas

This acrylic painting was done using a palette knife.  I wanted to try to paint a little looser, thinking the palette knife would help me keep it more painterly.  However, I now know I can get tight with detail using a brush and even a palette knife.  Application of paint using the palette knife, does, however, help me pick up the paint more.  I regret not using a thickening medium, since my acrylic paint can tend to get too liquid since I lay it out on moist paper towels.  If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT.  If you would like to see more of my works, representational or abstract, please visit my website at:

Blue Spruce and Winter Snow - acrylic palette knife painting by Pennsylvania Artist Pat Koscienski

Blue Spruce and Winter Snow
14" x 11"
Acrylic on canvas

This is one of the 4 winter scenes that I was inspired to paint because of the heavy snows that we got.  Looking through my very large morgue I was able to come up with many years of heavy snow references.  And, believe me, there were many.  This painting was done mainly with a palette knife.   If you have any questions or wish to purchase, contact PAT.  If you would like to see more of my paintings, please visit my website at:

"Kiwi Delight"
8" x 10"
Acrylic on canvas
Palette knife

This painting was done for Lela Stankovic's challenge on Paint and Draw Together Blogspot. It was quite a challenge using just the knife. I used a sculpting compound in my acrylic paint in an attempt to get some of the texture of the kiwi and the juiciness of the flesh. If you have any questions about this painting or wish to purchase, contact PAT. Early Morning Retreat - Acrylic Impressionistic Landscape Palette Knife Painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

Early Morning Retreat
14" x 11"
Acrylic on board
Palette Knife
This painting was done using a photograph I had taken when painting on a farm off Wertzville Road in Mechanicsburg, PA. There was a large man-made pond on the farm, but this little pool of water was so much more natural and appealing. I used palette knife and sculpting medium for this painting. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. Stoney Creek Morning
14" x 11"

This painting was done using a palette knife and acrylic paint with a moulding compound. It was inspired by a photograph I had taken one morning while painting at Stoney Creek in Dauphin, Pa. It was a steep decline from the parking area to the stream, but well worth the view. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. Lemons & Flower - Acrylic Palette Knife Impressionistic Still Life Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Lemons & Flower
Acrylic on Canvas
12" x 12"
Palette Knife

This painting was done for Lela Stankovic's Paint and Draw Together Blogspot. It was done with a palette knife using acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped 12" x 12" canvas. The bowl in her photograph was translucent, and I must admit defeat with painting that translucency and painted it a more opaque bowl. For the sake of art, some things have to be altered for the viewer to see a more understandable piece....and, this was one of those times. I also cropped and flipped her photograph... Please visit Lela's PADT site to see the original photograph and the many renditions being submitted by other artists. Aspens - Impressionistic Acrylic Palette Knife Landscape by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

SOLD

Aspens

8" x 10"

Acrylic on 300 lb watercolor paper

Palette Knife

This painting was done for Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge. This palette knife painting was a little unique in that my acrylics had turned fluid because of the "wet palette" being too wet. But, the knife was still picking up the paint, so I just continued to go with it. It gave me some effects, here and there, that I didn't mind and was thankful for. This painting can be put into a standard 8" x 10" frame, or matted and framed to a larger size. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com To see more of my paintings, please visit my website at:

Lotus and Loosestrife - Impressionistic Acrylic Plein Aire Palette Knife Landscape by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Lotus and Loosestrife
8" x 10"
Acrylic

I was painting at Wildwood Wetlands on Wednesday with our group, the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters, to try to get the yellow lotus and purple loosestrife before they make their exit for the year. I tried another palette knife piece, a little larger this time. I'd like to go even larger, but don't know about how to handle the amount of paint I would have to put out. A lot of interested people stop to talk, and acrylics can dry on you fast, especially when there is a breeze. I've tried using the wet palette, but that can liquify my paint and I want the full body consistency for the knife work. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact Pat at patsfineart@hotmail.com If interested in viewing more of my paintings, please visit my website at:
