Field Stone Meadows - original acrylic impressionistic landscape painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

Field Stone Meadows
30" x 24"
Acrylic on canvas
SOLD

This Sunday, April 1, marks the formal opening of the Preserved Lands Exhibit at York Art Association. YAA has partnered with the Farm and Natural Lands Trust of York County, and will be featuring landscape paintings of York County's Preserved Lands by 30 local artists. I was invited to paint Art Glatfelter's Field Stone Meadows Horse Farm. After touring and photographing this beautiful property on a gator driven by Sherri Becker in July, 2011, I chose to paint this scene using a photo as reference. The painting depicts both the roughness of the land and the beauty and softness of its crop.

The reception is from 2:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, April 1, at YAA, 220 S Marshall St, York, PA. Please stop by if you are in the area. The exhibit will be on display until April 22.

If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. 50% of the sale will go to the artist, 25% to YAA, and 25% to the Natural Lands Trust; this applies until April 22.

8" x 10"
Acrylic on canvas
Palette knife

This painting was done for Lela Stankovic's challenge on Paint and Draw Together Blogspot. It was quite a challenge using just the knife. This painting was done using a photograph I had taken when painting on a farm off Wertzville Road in Mechanicsburg, PA. Got Milk?, Acrylic palette knife representational cow painting by Pennsylvania Painter Pat Koscienski

 SOLD
"Got Milk?"
8" x 10"
Acrylic on canvas
Palette Knife

This painting was done entirely with a palette knife. I made a sculpting compound using clear gesso and pumice which I used to mix with my paint. The clear gesso worked well, in that it didn't alter the color of the paint. There were some areas that became challenging eg eyes. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT. This painting was done for Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge. Gary took this photo of Togwotee Pass near Dubois, Wyoming. This painting is an acrylic painting done with a palette knife on stretched canvas. It was done from a photo of the Maine coastal shore given to me by a teacher who visited the area while on sabatical. Doing it with a palette knife vs a brush helped me keep it more painterly. Persimmon and Old Lace - Acrylic Impressionistic Representational Still Life Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Persimmon and Old Lace
9" x 12"
Acrylic on canvas

This painting was done from a photograph posted by Lela Stankovic's Paint and Draw Together Blogspot. My mother, Mary Mesaros, and aunt, Mary Suk, both were good crocheters. I'm sure they are looking down on me right now and getting a good laugh on the exact painting of this doily. I hope they both realize I am an impressionist and not a realist and cannot paint every stitch as it is. With all the rain, it was very hard to get a good color in my photograph of this painting; the thread is much warmer in real life. If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact Pat. Lemons & Flower - Acrylic Palette Knife Impressionistic Still Life Painting by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

Lemons & Flower
Acrylic on Canvas
12" x 12"
Palette Knife

This painting was done for Lela Stankovic's Paint and Draw Together Blogspot. It was done with a palette knife using acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped 12" x 12" canvas. The bowl in her photograph was translucent, and I must admit defeat with painting that translucency and painted it a more opaque bowl. For the sake of art, some things have to be altered for the viewer to see a more understandable piece....and, this was one of those times. I also cropped and flipped her photograph... Please visit Lela's PADT site to see the original photograph and the many renditions being submitted by other artists. Aspens - Impressionistic Acrylic Palette Knife Landscape by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Pat Koscienski

SOLD

Aspens

8" x 10"

Acrylic on 300 lb watercolor paper

Palette Knife

This painting was done for Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge. This palette knife painting was a little unique in that my acrylics had turned fluid because of the "wet palette" being too wet. But, the knife was still picking up the paint, so I just continued to go with it. It gave me some effects, here and there, that I didn't mind and was thankful for. This painting can be put into a standard 8" x 10" frame, or matted and framed to a larger size. Pastel

This painting was inspired when painting plein air at Yellow Creek State Park in Indiana, PA... not far from my home town of Nanty-Glo. This field was beaming golds and yellows from the sun, but the mist still hung low over the water.
